Leadership Award
Award Focus
The Together We Rock! Leadership Award recognizes the efforts of an individual class, individual grade level, school social justice committee, or school to build a school community that is accessible to and inclusive of people who have a disability.
One winner will be chosen from an elementary school and one winner from a high school. The winners will each be presented with a cheque for $1,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the Together We Rock! Leadership Award are as follows:
- A leadership team must be established to inspire the change.
- A minimum of 25 members of a school community must be involved in the initiative.
- The applicants must complete a minimum of one of the key components of the Together We Rock! School Leadership Program.
- Activities and actions must be undertaken in the current school year.
- Fundraising activities designed to assist a specific individual or group of people who have a disability are not eligible.
Application Process
A Together We Rock! Leadership Award Application Form, with corresponding documents, must be completed and submitted. Photographs may be included; however, please refrain from sending video clips. Application forms are available in the Together We Rock! School Leadership Program Tool Kit (see pages 202 to 204). Application forms may be submitted any time between January 15 and May 15 of each year.
All submitted application forms must be approved and signed by the school principal.
Chosen Winners
A panel of judges will review the applications received based on the following selection criteria:
- Leadership: Ability of the applicant to motivate and inspire others to accomplish the goal
- Teamwork: Level of participation in the initiative
- Making a Difference: Goals or results that are achieved and their impact on the school community
The winning elementary school and high school will be announced by June of each year.
