What’s New: Sticking with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility
Creating inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplaces is hard work. To be successful you need to stick with it. It is a journey that will improve the performance and growth of an organization.
Over the last decade there have been lots of conversations, processes implemented, awareness resources developed, and values statements crafted. All of these initial steps are important however research and practice tell us that far too many organizations then stall when it comes to implementing actions and measuring their results.
In developing their Ultimate Guide to DEI Work Initiatives, Ceridian, a global human capital management software company, recognized that at times their DEI journey needed to be renewed. They discovered that “Encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion is one thing; sticking with it is quite another.” Ceridan set out to develop a guide not just to get organizations started on the DEI journey but also to further their journey to implement strategies and actions and measure results.
The introductory chapters of the guide are a good starting point and focus on DEI definitions, benefits and improving DEI at work. The final sections of the guide provide valuable information and resources related to aligning strategies with actions and empowerment through DEI analytics to measure results. The Ceridian team that developed the guide stresses that DEI has to be “central to an organization with tangible progress”.
Organizations and leaders who feel that their DEI momentum has stalled may find this guide helpful. If you are in this position, hang in there. It is a journey that is worthwhile.
