The SWIFT 2016 National Professional Learning Institute (PLI) is to take place on July 21 and 22 in Arlington, Virginia (near Washington, D.C.). SWIFT is a center that builds schools’ capacity to provide support and inclusion to all students. The PLI provides interactive opportunities for participants to learn about inclusive school reform and equity-based inclusion. Presenters will share success stories, research, and vision for the future. Speakers include educators, academics, administrators, and healthcare professionals.
The theme of this year’s PLI is “Better Together”. Filmmaker Dan Habib of the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire will be premiering two new films at the event, one focusing on “Integrated Educational Framework” and one on “Inclusive Academic Instruction.” Five streams of breakout sessions are available to event participants, categorized by SWIFT’s five domains of interest: administrative leadership, family and community engagement, inclusive policy structure and practice, integrated educational framework, and multi-tiered system of support.
The SWIFT 2016 PLI will be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriot. To find out more about the event, click here, and to register, click here. Also visit SWIFT’s website here to access a variety of types of resources in each of its domains.
