The Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education (MCIE) is a non-profit with a mission to promote inclusive education in community schools in the state of Maryland. Since 1988, the organization has supported schools by sharing best practices at the level of the individual, the school, and the school system.
MCIE's services include student-centred education planning, school-wide training and technical assistance, and professional development courses for educators. MCIE promotes the message that inclusion in neighbourhood schools is not only a right, but essential for preparing all students for life in a diverse society.
MCIE publishes resources that help promote and advocate for inclusion (see the page here http://www.mcie.org/pages/resources/resources-and-publications) and also provides links to other related resources. MCIE has produced two series of webinars, one about inclusive early childhood education and the other about the transition out of school.
