Canada’s Best Diversity Employers recognize employers that inspire exceptional inclusiveness and diversity programs. This competition is sponsored by Mediacorp and considers diversity initiatives in a variety of categories, including programs for employees from five groups: for people with disabilities, women, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered/transsexual (LGBTQ) people.
For example, Accenture Inc., Management Consulting, conducted a national mental health survey to explore the knowledge and attitudes of their employees towards mental health. Then there is Capital One Bank (Canada Branch) that created a Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee composed of senior leaders. Retailer, Home Depot of Canada, promotes an inclusive workplace for people with disabilities and Loblaw Companies Ltd. maintains an inclusion council that provides oversight to the implementation of the company’s inclusion strategy.
