Aramark, a leading catering management and uniform company which serves sports teams, healthcare providers, educational institutions, cultural attractions and landmarks, as well as numerous municipalities in 19 countries globally was recently awarded top marks in the 2017 Disability Equity Index® (DEI®).
The DEI® is an annual benchmarking system which helps companies build and improve on their reputation in culture and leadership, accessibility and employment practices, as well as their community engagement and support services.
The various areas of criteria are measured and self-reported to give the company’s final score on their disability inclusion practices.
The DEI® is a joint initiative between the American Association for People with Disabilities (AAPD) and the US Business Leadership Network® (USBLN). Its aim is to raise awareness of the need for disability inclusion policies and practices to become more prevalent in corporate America, with the hope better employment opportunities will be available to people with disabilities, as well as customers and suppliers.
The USBLN assists businesses by leveraging disability inclusion. The non-profit organization serves as a voice for nearly 50 U.S. Business Leadership Network affiliates which represent more than 5,000 businesses.
This is not the first accolade Amamark has received. Their diversity and inclusion efforts have also been recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine, CAREERS & the Disabled Magazine, LATINO Magazine and Human Rights Campaign.
