Inclusive Club Checklist

Here’s a handy and quick tool by which an organization can figure out how well their inclusivity efforts are working. The self-assessment tool is aimed at sports organizations but the questions can be adapted to almost any organization type. It takes about 15 minutes to go through the questions.

The self-assessment tool comes from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for the state of Western Australia.

“Being inclusive means welcoming everyone,” says the department’s introduction to the tool. “Are you proud of the way your club gives everyone a fair go?”

“There is great potential for sporting clubs and community groups to expand their memberships and reduce social isolation, by encouraging people of diverse backgrounds, abilities and age to join and participate.”

The authors of the tool encourage clubs to complete it at least once a year, with their

  • Club development officers
  • Members of the club
  • Provincial/state sporting associations

The self-assessment tool can be found here.
