Parks for Inclusion

Everyone deserves a park, says America’s National Recreational Parks Association (NRPA). The NRPA is dedicated to ensuring that all people have access to the benefits of local parks and recreation. To achieve this, NRPA has made a formal commitment to the Partnership for Inclusive Health’s Commit to Inclusion initiative. They’re calling the three-year pledge “Parks for Inclusion.”

NRPA’s resources page offers a host of resources for parks and rec professionals to support inclusive activities in parks and rec facilities. The toolkits, assessments, online tools and case studies come from NPRA and other leaders in the field.

NRPA got together with the U.S. National Center for Health, Physical Activity and Disability to create a video that conveys their message quickly and succinctly. The message of this short, uplifting video is “Everyone deserves a park.” The images of people of varying types of ability enjoying parks and playgrounds pair perfectly with the mandate to make playgrounds in Ontario accessible by 2025.
